On March 16, according to the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, in all constituencies the early voting for elections of deputies of the Mejlis, members of velayat, city and district Khalk Maslakhaty and Gengeshes started.

According to the above-mentioned Code, this procedure first of all is provided for the citizens, who leave for long business trips or holiday and also for those, who for this or that reason cannot come to the polling stations on March 26 and vote for the most worthy candidate.

Speaking as a whole about the course of the election campaign, it is necessary to note an active work of all local election committees these days, which structure included the most worthy representatives of labour collectives, political parties and public organizations.

As TDH was informed by the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan, all stages of the election campaign were organised in due time, according to requirements of the national legislation in force and the generally adopted international standards. All 2644 polling stations of the country are completely ready for work.

Including 42 polling stations set up abroad at diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan wait for voters.

Besides national observers, international observers and experts carry out the monitoring of elections. Possibility to visit election stations of the capital and velayats of the country both right before the elections and on the day of voting is provided for all of them.

Representatives of the Mission of observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States were present today in some polling stations where they had a possibility to estimate work of members of electoral committees and the course of voting.

Elections are in the centre of attention of the mass media. In periodic print media, biographic data of candidates were published. Voters could familiarise with election programs of candidates within organised meetings or on the election sites.

In turn, meetings with candidates in which voters are acquainted with election programs of contenders proceed, are aimed to bring a worthy contribution to the further successful realisation of social and economic programs and reforms implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Thus, the stage of early voting which started today confirms readiness in places for this political campaign, which is urged to enter into the modern history of Turkmenistan as new confirmation of invariable adherence of our country to the democratic way of development, purposes of well-being and prosperity of Turkmen people.
