Today, in Turkmenistan nomination of candidates for elections of deputies of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the Khalk Maslakhaty and Gengeshes for velayats, etraps and cities completed. At present, registration of candidates continues and in the near future, their meetings with electors will start.
In accordance with current legislation, in electoral districts meetings of committees of political parties and groups of citizens for nomination of candidates were held. Participants of meetings, who were familiarized with employment histories of contenders, their vision of further democratic development of the state and society, supported their candidates after detailed discussion of their business and personal qualities.
Definite principles of the present pre-election campaign, like all previous ones, are wide alternativeness, openness, and fairness- indisputable conditions for confirmation of democratic standards in the life of our society. The right to become a deputy of the parliament, a representative of local administrative bodies as well as local self-governing bodies is contested by worthy representatives of Turkmen people, who enjoy respect and trust of their compatriots.
After registration with relevant electrical commissions, which will be over on February 28, lists of candidates will be published in press. Then, all contenders and their accredited representatives will have equal opportunities for propaganda and meeting with electros, including for pre-election meetings and speeches in mass media.
In their turn, electors are presented with the right to discuss freely and closely nominated candidates that will enable them to familiarize with business and personal qualities of each contender.
Information on the date and place of meetings with electors, during which, they can fully familiarize themselves with pre-electoral programs of candidates will be published in local press.
Elections marked for March 26, are called to demonstrate adherence of Turkmen nationals to democratic transformations and progressive reforms developed in Turkmenistan at the initiative of National leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and successfully realized under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Both national observers and specially invited representatives of various international structures will carry out monitoring over the course of the pre-election process.
Up to date, from the Democratic Party, Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Agrarian Party, public organizations about three thousand observers have been registered. They have been given identity cards of the prescribed format.
Executive committees of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Organization of Turkic States informed of their intention to send their representatives as observers. Representatives of the United Nations Organization, Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in Europe and foreign mass media are also expected to arrive.
For local observers seminars were held with a view of familiarization with the national electoral legislation, their job responsibilities and procedure for conduction of upcoming elections. Earlier such seminars were also organized for members of etrap, city and district election committees.
Organizational work for preparation for the upcoming elections continues.
