Turkmen weightlifters won 11 medals at the Asian championship among youths (under 17 years old) and juniors (under 20 years old) held in Tashkent.

261 athletes from 21 states compete for championship awards in two age categories at once.

Five medals were brought to the team of Turkmenistan by a student of the 10th grade of the Ashgabat secondary school № 104 Medine Amanova, who competed in the weight category up to 64 kg. In the competition among girls (under 17 years old), where four athletes fought for awards in this weight, she won three gold medals - in the snatch (85 kg), clean and jerk (104 kg) and the combined event (189 kg). In the tournament among juniors (under 20), where 9 athletes already competed for medals, Medine, with her results, took 5th place in the clean and jerk and won two bronze medals - in the snatch and combined event.

Saparly Muhyyev, a student of the 11th grade of the Ashgabat secondary school № 20, who became the champion of Asia among youths (under 17), also performed brilliantly that evening. In the category up to 89 kg, in which 6 athletes argued for medals, he realized five attempts out of six and won three gold medals in the end - in the snatch (135 kg), clean and jerk (165 kg) and the combined event(300 kg).

It is noteworthy that last month at the youth championship of the planet in Leon (Mexico), Saparly Muhyyev became the world vice-champion in the category up to 96 kg, winning silver in the snatch (133 kg), bronze in the clean and jerk (167 kg) and another silver medal in  combined event(300 kg).

Gulalek Kakamyradova brought two bronze medals to the team of Turkmenistan at the Asian Championship in Tashkent. In the weight category up to 59 kg among girls under 17, where 5 athletes competed for awards, she showed the fourth result in the snatch (77 kg) and the third in the clean and jerk (93 kg) and the combined event (170 kg).

A small bronze medal in the clean and jerk (125 kg) was awarded to Perhat Bagtyyarov. A student of the 9th grade of the capital's sports school “Olimp” achieved this success in the weight category up to 55 kg among young men (under 17), where 11 athletes from 9 countries competed for awards.

Perhat, who will turn 16 on October 8, completed five attempts out of six, while setting two youth records of Turkmenistan - in the snatch (102 kg) and the combined event (227 kg).

In the final approach in the clean and jerk, P. Bagtyyarov tried to lift 127 kg, which provided him with bronze in the combined event. However, the projectile did not submit. As a result, a student of coach Boris Kulamov took fifth place, losing only 1 kg to bronze medalist Yerassylu Umarov from Kazakhstan.

In the competition among juniors (under 20 years old) Perhat Bagtyyarov took 6th place among 8 athletes.

Two more of our weightlifters - Gaygysyz Torayev and Bektimur Reyimov - in the junior group (up to 20 years old) took 4th and 6th places in the weight category up to 73 kg, respectively, among 12 athletes from 9 countries. Torayev scored 306 kg (135 + 171) in total exercises, and Reimov - 296 kg (134 + 162).
