Turkmen players won two medals (gold and silver) in the World Chess Championship among cadets in Batumi, Georgia. The success was achieved by members of our team Shageldi Gurbandurdyev (first place) and Lala Shohradova (second place). Both of them study at comprehensive school №8 in Garashsyzlyk etrap of Lebap velayat. Owing to this success the national team of Turkmenistan secured the third place in the team event which is a very good indicator, because the tournament was represented by the large number of countries. The World Championship, held under the auspices of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), was attended by about 750 young masters of the intellectual game from 66 countries. Special emphasis should be made on work of Rozymyrat Gurbandurdyev, trainer of sports school №3 of Garashsyzlyk etrap, Lebap velayat, who prepared our medallists for the World Championship.
