A campaign to destroy drugs and contraband tobacco products seized during special operations carried out by law enforcement and military authorities of Turkmenistan was held today, on the territory of Geokdepe etrap.

The event, which was held with the participation of the leaders of the Mejlis and the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh, members of the State Security Council, representatives of public organizations, health sector, media, as well as venerable elders, became a clear demonstration that Turkmenistan is fulfilling its international obligations in the field of combating illegal drug trafficking in the context of the policy pursued in our country to strengthen the principles of a healthy lifestyle.

Today, due to the efforts of the leader of the nation, Turkmenistan, being a country of health and inspiration, develops partnerships with all interested states and authoritative international organizations and actively works to combat drug trafficking and modern challenges. All this determines the wide recognition by the world community of the humane policy pursued under the leadership of the head of the Turkmen state.

As a result of the special attention paid by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to this issue and well-coordinated interaction of military and law enforcement agencies, the volumes of illegal drugs trafficked to the territory of Turkmenistan are noticeably decreasing.

A reliable barrier to the spread of this global threat in the country is provided at the level of the Government and legislation, with active participation of civil society and on the basis of an intersectoral approach to combating illicit drug trafficking and smuggling, the uncompromising nature of which is declared by the leader of the nation.

Supporting the efforts of the state in countering the dangerous phenomena of our time and protecting the health and well-being of the native people, each of the participants in the current action personally sent seized drugs, smuggled tobacco and pharmaceutical products to the furnace of special stoves. According to the regulations, the entire incineration process was supervised by law enforcement officers and authorized experts.

State support of the program for active promotion of a healthy lifestyle and development of mass physical education and sports is of great importance in this work. In all regions of the country, modern stadiums, fitness centers, schools with gyms and swimming pools are being built and commissioned.

Participants of the current action to destroy drugs and contraband tobacco products expressed their sincere gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the opportunity to join the common fight against negative phenomena, global threats and challenges of our time.
