Athletes of the Turkmen Kickboxing School have distinguished themselves at two large tournaments held recently in Latvia and Germany. The International Kickboxing Championship in Riga (Latvia) brought together kickboxers from Russia, England, Italy, Austria, Poland, Turkmenistan, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, along with the host country – over six hundred athletes. The participants competed for medals in several disciplines of kickboxing. Turkmen sportsmen took part in two of them. Ashgabat residents Mekan Amanov and a bronze medalist of the IV Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (South Korea, 2013) Shohrat Hallyev contested for a gold medal in full-contact competitions in the weight class under 67 kg. In the close contest, M. Amanov has become a gold medal winner. In the same discipline, Pygy Silabov (under 57 kg) has won another gold medal. Our kickboxers have won 4 gold medals in a K-1 event. Rejep Ataev (under 60 kg), Shamered Hallyev (under 57 kg), Ismail Ataev (up to 63.5 kg) and Shohrat Yagmyrov (up to 71 kg) are gold medalists. The sportsmen are trained by Honored Coaches of Turkmenistan Alexander Snagovskoi and Pirgeldy Amanov, and are main candidates for the national team. Therefore, each success gives an extra incentive to all Turkmen sportsmen before the main sporting event – the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in Ashgabat in 2017. Representatives of the Lebap Kickboxing School are also pretenders to the national team. Thus, pupils of Honored Coaches of Turkmenistan Yusup Haitov and Zakir Atajanov won two gold, one silver and one bronze medals in the city of Ebern (Germany). Nariman Aidogdyev (under 60 kg) and Muhammed Altynbaev (under 63.5 kg) are gold medalists; Aziz Jumabaev and Ruslan Choliev are silver and bronze medal winners respectively, who competed in the weight class under 75 kg. Besides the sportsmen from Lebap velayat, Ashgabat sportswoman, a student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan Farida Kutlymuradova (under 60 kg), trained by A. Snagovskoi, and a kickboxer from Dashoguz Agamyrat Amangeldyev (under 54 kg), coached by Edward Kim became winners at the Championship in Germany.
