The National Chess Championship among men – members of the National League, ended with the triumph of young Turkmen Grand Master, 20-year-old resident of Ashgabat Maksat Atabaev. The representative the capital’s Chess School of the Ashgabat Sports Committee had no defeat in the course of the competitions, having scored 11.5 points out of 15 (10 wins and 5 draws). The winner’s younger brother won a silver medal, 15-year-old FIDE Master Saparmurat Atabaev, who lost only one point to Maksat. A representative of the team of Akhal velayat, FIDE Master Annaberdy Esenov took third place on the medal podium. At present, M. Atabaev and other members of the national team are getting ready for the International Chess Training Games to be held in Moscow (the Russian Federation) in the second half of May.
