One more victory was added to the Turkmen sportsmen’s “victory-box”. Our chess players won the gold medal at the large international competitions of the “Open” tournament which was recently held in the city of Sovmesar (The Islamic Republic of Iran). The medalist – a student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan, FIDE Master, Gozel Atabaeva, won the victory in the “B” group amidst its 110 sportsmen. Having achieved 6 points out of 9 possible during the Swiss-system duels, the Turkmen athlete showed the best result among the women. Within the same group, Gozel’s younger sister – Ogulgerek Atabaeva, showed good results. She also scored 6 points, but was inferior to the winner by the port coefficient ratio, having shared the 2nd-9th places with the athletes from Iran and Russia.
