A sport school in the village of Yzgant, Akhal velayat hosted the Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship of Turkmenistan. The strongest wrestlers from all regions of the country and Ashgabat took part in the championship. The main purpose of the competitions, organized by the State Sports Committee of Turkmenistan jointly with the country’s public organizations, was to determine the best sportsmen, who would be included in the national team for participation in qualification international competitions for 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil, including the World Wrestling Championship in Las Vegas (the USA) and the Asian Wrestling Championship in Doha (Qatar) to be held in this year’s September and August respectively. The team of wrestlers from Ashgabat took first place. The pupils of Honored Coaches of Turkmenistan Rozy Rejepov, Aimamed Orashev and Aman Geldyev had won eight victories out of eight possible. The record-high achievements were gained by Arslan Orashev (weight class under 66 kg), Amanali Ataev (under 80 kg), Mail Bahlulov (under 98 kg) and Arslan Saparmammedov (under 130 kg). The sportsmen from Mary velayat – pupils of Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Yagshimurad Kurraev took second place. The team has 3 champion’s titles won by Sapa Jumaev (under 59 kg), Abdyresul Hummyev (under 71 kg) and Dovran Yarimov (under 85 kg). The team from Lebap velayat became third-place winners thanks to the gold medal won by Shermet Permanov (under 75 kg). The pupil of Coach Amin Muhtarov in his weight class is not only our country’s strongest wrestler, but also one of the best wrestlers in the world sport arena.
