A new page has been opened in the history of our country’s sports movement development: Ashgabat hosted Turkmenistan’s first-ever Sport Dance Open Championship which brought together about 130 participants aged from 5 to 26. The competitions became for our sportsmen the first round of preparation for V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to take place in 2017 in the Ashgabat Olympic Complex. The program of these complex competitions includes several disciplines of sport dances. Among them are the classical styles, including the European one, which is comprised of the slow and Vienna waltzes, the tango, the quickstep and the slow foxtrot, as well as such Latin American dances, as the samba, the rumba, the cha-cha-cha, the jive and the paso doble. The participants of the first-ever Championship of Turkmenistan competed in these events. The competitions were co-organized by the State and Ashgabat Sports Committees, the Magtymguly Youth Organization, as well as the Sport Dance Federation of Turkmenistan, which had been established prior to the national tournament. The competitions were held in singles and pairs. In solo performances in various nominations, Ailar Gasanova, Yuliya Ragulina and Anastasiya Mihailova won first places. The duets of pair dancers Ali Rejepov-Darya Makarkina, Aleksandr Sisekin-Varvara Pivovarova and Vladimir Paraskunov-Milana Sultanbekova became winners. For the most part, dancers from the city of Ashgabat and one dancer from Mary velayat took part in the Championship.
