Turkmenistan has been elected to the Bureau of Inland Transport Committee of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in 2019 – 2020. This news came from the UN Department in Geneva (Switzerland) where regular 80th session of this competent intergovernmental organization was held on February 20 – 23. Turkmen delegations has also taken part in the work of the session.

“Building new roads and railways, seaports and bridges, our motherland revives the Great Silk Route in the third millennium” – President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in his New Year speech to the Nation.

This sector has leading positions in small business both by the number of enterprises and by number of personnel involved in this sphere. The share of trade in the structure of internal gross production made more than 10 percent last year (around 8 percent in 2015).

As it has been informed earlier, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave start to the construction of new railway from Serhetabat (Turkmenistan) to Turgundy railway station (Afghanistan) on November 29.

The growth and consolidation of international authority owing to peace-loving course of the Leader of the Nation, his initiatives and concrete actions for peace, security and progress are one of undisputable factors of dynamic development of Turkmenistan.

The award won by a Turkmen multimedia project at the AV Awards, a well-known international competition, has been delivered to Ashgabat. The project was formally presented during the opening ceremony of the Atamyrat-Imamnazar-Aqina Railway.
