On August 24, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan Petra Dachtler, who presented her credentials to the head of state.

Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, Ambassador Petra Dachtler noted that it is a great honor for her to represent Germany in Turkmenistan, which has demonstrates significant achievements in various fields.

Taking the opportunity, Ambassador Petra Dachtler conveyed greetings of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People.

After returning greetings and best wishes to the leadership of the Federal Republic of Germany, the head of state congratulated Ms. Petra Dachtler on her appointment to this high-level diplomatic post and wished her success in her responsible work aimed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches special importance to developing relations with the countries of the European Union. In this regard, Germany is a leading partner.

Turkmenistan consistently expands cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany based on mutual respect, trust, equality, and reciprocal consideration of interests.

The two countries actively cooperate within international organizations, primarily the UN. In this context, their mutual support of initiatives within the UN is exemplary.

Turkmenistan cooperates with Germany in strengthening international peace and security, sustainable development, environmental protection, combating climate change, rational use of natural resources, and achieving the SDGs.

In this regard, strengthening the partnership in the Central Asia-Germany format is particularly important. Turkmenistan views it as an important mechanism for discussing regional development issues, strengthening economic ties, expanding transport connectivity, and promoting joint initiatives.

Special attention is also given to enhancing trade and economic relations. In this context, the role of the Turkmen-German Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation as a key instrument for deepening economic collaboration, as well as the work of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, was emphasized.

Turkmen-German cooperation in healthcare serves as a vivid example of constructive partnership for many years. Regular contacts with German experts are maintained to exchange experience with Turkmen medical professionals, improve their qualifications, and learn best European medical practices.

Cultural and humanitarian dialogue is of great importance. Cooperation in this area is a key factor in strengthening interstate relations, contributing to the rapprochement of the two friendly peoples.

In this regard, the importance of cooperation in the field of education, particularly the training of qualified personnel and the exchange of modern knowledge and experience was emphasized.

In conclusion, the Ambassador of Germany again expressed her sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the time he devoted to the meeting and assured him that she would make every effort to strengthen the traditionally friendly relations and intensify German-Turkmen cooperation in all areas, for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.
