Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and State Security Council, in which khyakims of velayats and Ashgabat city also took place.
Opening the meeting, the head of the state gave the floor to Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D.Gulmanova.
The head of the national Parliament, first of all, on behalf of deputies congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Hero-Arkadag with the upcoming New year and conveyed her sincere wishes of sound health, longevity and expressed confidence that in 2026 under the leadership of the head of the state in our peace country where abundance and prosperity reign, big successes and progress will be reached.
Then, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis informed on results of the work for designation of the motto and emblem of the upcoming year.
As she marked, being guided by wise words of Hero-Arkadag of the fact that the forthcoming year - Year of horse, is symbolical for the Turkmen people, who throughout their centuries-old history have attached a big role to Akhal-teke horses as well as with a view of glorification of achievements in all spheres of our sovereign fatherland, which under the wise leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar confidently follows the progress of swift racers and on the basis of the proposals, which have arrived from representatives of people, large public organisations of the country, labour collectives and citizens, the resolution of the Mejlis on announcement of the year 2026 «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the native land of purposeful winged racers» was prepared.
In this connection, for consideration of the head of Turkmenistan, the emblem of the forthcoming year was submitted.
Addressing participants of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov underlined that in our country, the motto and the emblem of each New Year is proclaimed and approved to name it in a modern way.
Members of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan together with people submitted proposals on the motto and emblem of the next year, the head of the state said. Having approved them, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed the motto of 2026 - «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the native land of purposeful winged racers».
Participants of the meeting welcomed this decision by a storm of applause.
Then, the floor was given to Deputy-Chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of Foreign Affairs R.Meredov who pointed out that consolidation of sacred independence and statehood of our fatherland, its legal basis, al-round strengthening of economic power of the country and consecutive improvement of well-being and social living conditions of people act as key vectors of the policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Under the leadership of the head of the state, a great deal of work aimed at intensification of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan, further increase of authority of our state on the international scene is carried out. The large-scale activity, carried out in 2025 also speaks clearly of the fact.
All this attests to the fact that the noble undertakings realised throughout many years by Hero-Arkadag, find today worthy continuation under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov as well as practical embodiment of the national principle of "succession", characteristic to mentality of Turkmen people.
In the forthcoming year, one should work for successful fulfilment of set goals, the Deputy-Chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of Foreign Affairs assured, on behalf of participants of the meeting warmly congratulated the head of the state and Hero-Arkadag with declaration of the motto of 2026 - «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the native land of purposeful winged racers».
As he marked, in 2025 - the International year of peace and trust - in the foreign policy sphere important actions of various levels aimed at maintenance of international peace, security and sustainable development, solution of social and humanitarian issues were carried out.
This year at the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan, the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization adopted significant international documents. Having singled out among them the approved resolutions «The key role of reliable and stable energy connectivity in ensuring sustainable development» and «UN Decade on Sustainable Transport (2026-2035) », the Deputy-Chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of Foreign Affairs warmly congratulated the head of the state with this foreign policy victory of our country.
Deputy-Chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of Foreign Affairs also pointed out that President Serdar Berdimuhamedov awarded members of the Government, citizens of the country working in various branches as well as foreign citizens who bring their contribution to development of international cooperation of Turkmenistan with the world community the anniversary medal «Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 30 ýyllygyna» and a memorable badge and once again expressed deep gratitude to the head of the state for the big respect and trust.
At the end of his speech, the Deputy-Chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of Foreign Affairs warmly congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag with the upcoming year 2026 and expressed wishes of sound health, well-being, happiness and great successes.
Addressing participants of the meeting, the head of the state underlined that 2025 - «The International year of peace and trust», started with adoption of the Resolution «Permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan» by the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization. In the current year, a great number of international actions were held and significant documents were adopted.
Recently, one more good news has arrived. At the 64th plenary meeting of the 80th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations at the initiative of Turkmenistan resolutions «The key role of reliable and stable energy connectivity in ensuring sustainable development» and «UN Decade on Sustainable Transport (2026-2035)» were unanimously adopted, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said and warmly thanked on behalf of the Turkmen people all states, which have unanimously supported our country.
Our country in the future will continue work on development of effective cooperation with the United Nations Organization, the head of Turkmenistan noted and congratulated participants of the meeting with the arrived good news – adoption of important resolutions.
As he underlined, 2025 is closing. This year will forever enter the history of our independent neutral fatherland.
In the outgoing International year of peace and trust, our country has witnessed historical transformations, the head of the state continued his speech. The life of our people has become more prosperous and happy. At the international level, the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality of our fatherland was marked.
In the outgoing year, 44 meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers, 11 meetings of the State Security Council as well as 24 various state meetings, in which key issues of the internal and foreign policy of the country were considered, were held.
The purposeful activity is implemented to develop the national economy and all its branches attain high rates of growth. Salaries, pensions, welfare payments and scholarships of students were in due time financed.
In addition, as he marked, new laws, which ensure prosperity of our state, were adopted.
In all regions of the country, construction of industrial and social, cultural projects, large housing estates proceeds, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov with satisfaction stated and instructed the authorities who take part in the meeting, during celebration of the New year to organise duties of all services, which ensure uninterrupted work of communal activities, electric and water supply, repair establishments.
The head of the state also instructed to provide abundance of various goods in the markets and in shops, and for good rest of people to organise the cultural events, appropriate functioning of public transport in cities and villages. Besides it, he instructed to keep control over strict observance of law and order during holidays in all places.
Summing up the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov warmly congratulated all with the upcoming New Year 2026 and wished them great successes in their work for further improvement of social living conditions of the population and development of our sovereign fatherland in the next year.
