On December 12, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person, the guest noted that it was a great honor for him to take part in the Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Neutrality Day, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

Warmly welcoming the guest and thanking him for his participation in the International Forum held in Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that Turkmenistan consistently implements a policy of permanent neutrality, which serves as an effective tool for strengthening peace and trust.

"We highly value the traditional relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and mutually beneficial partnership with all SCO member states. Turkmenistan intends to continue to comprehensively strengthen these relations, promoting the development of multilateral cooperation aimed at achieving concrete results" said the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan. He also expressed confidence that the constructive dialogue between Turkmenistan and the SCO will continue to develop based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and trust.

At the end of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev, noting the favorable prospects for successful cooperation, exchanged wishes for good health and prosperity.
