On October 14, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the Chairman of the Korean company “Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co.” Jung Won-ju.
The Chairman of the Korean company expressed his gratitude to Hero-Arkadag for the meeting and noted his great contribution to the steady development of fruitful cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Turkmenistan.
It was emphasized that Korean-Turkmen relations are developing in all areas of mutual interest and are reaching a qualitatively new level. Since the early years of Turkmenistan’s independence, companies from the Republic of Korea have been effectively functioning in the Turkmen market, particularly in the oil and gas and chemical industries.
Noting that the chemical industry of Turkmenistan offers good opportunities for innovative development, Mr. Jung Won-ju confirmed the readiness of “Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. to contribute to this process.
Warmly welcoming the guest, Hero-Arkadag expressed gratitude and best wishes to former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, former Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin-pyo, and former head of the Korea-Turkmenistan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group “Korea-Turkmenistan” Lee Dal-gon for their contribution to strengthening constructive dialogue.
Hero-Arkadag noted that relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea are of long-term and strategic nature and are based on mutual respect and trust.
Turkmenistan is consistently implementing economic development programs and industrial reforms, with particular emphasis on environmentally-oriented projects. In this context, the National Leader of the Turkmen people said that the possibilities of obtaining “green” methanol from guzapai – cotton culms – are currently being studied.
It was emphasized that cotton grown in Turkmenistan is environmentally friendly and suitable for industrial use.
Hero-Arkadag noted the existence of opportunities for new fields of cooperation, given the favorable business conditions in Turkmenistan.
In this context, the constructive cooperation between the State Concern “Türkmenhimiýa” (Turkmenchemistry) and “Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.” was highlighted.
During the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that when constructing new buildings in Turkmenistan, the main focus is on compliance with environmental standards, the introduction of advanced scientific and technical achievements, as well as the high-quality and timely implementation of projects.
Expressing his sincere gratitude to Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the favorable conditions created in Turkmenistan for constructive work, Mr. Jung Won-ju assured that “Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.” Will continue to take a responsible approach to fulfilling its contractual obligations.
