Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed on a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan to participate in the second summit "Central Asia – Russia" and the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Cooperation between the Central Asian states and the Russian Federation is one of the dynamically developing and strategically important directions of regional policy. It is based on deep historical, cultural, and economic ties and covers areas such as politics, economy, energy, transport, science, education, and others.
An equal and trusting dialogue, based on mutual respect for national interests, is the main condition for ensuring the sustainability of this cooperation. Turkmenistan, pursuing a foreign policy strategy based on the legal status of permanent positive neutrality, plays an active role in this format.
The "Central Asia – Russia" format is a vivid example of the successful unification of efforts of six states. The first summit held in Astana in 2022 confirmed the effectiveness of this dialogue and its focus on strengthening friendly relations.
Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to the development of this six-party format. Our country actively participates in strengthening bilateral relations based on a solid historical foundation and a rich experience of cooperation. Turkmenistan’s initiative to hold the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the Central Asian States and the Russian Federation in Ashgabat is a clear example of this.
After some time, the presidential airliner landed at Dushanbe International Airport, which was decorated with the national flags of the participating countries.
The Head of State was warmly welcomed by high-ranking officials of Tajikistan, as well as members of our country’s official delegation.
