On August 6, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Vice-President of the Republic of Malawi Michael Biswick Usi, who arrived in our country to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and invitation to participate in the international conference, the guest noted the high level of organization of the Forum, the main goals of which are the development of joint solutions in the field of sustainable development and strengthening international cooperation. Taking this opportunity, Michael Bizuik Usi conveyed warm greetings to the head of state from President Lazarus Chakwera.

Having thanked for the kind words, the head of state conveyed his best wishes to the top leadership of the friendly country and expressed confidence that the Conference, held on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, will become the basis for the development of transport and transit corridors, strengthening interregional cooperation and expanding economic opportunities.

Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations with various countries, including African ones, the head of state noted, declaring the Turkmen side’s readiness to use all opportunities to build up political, diplomatic, trade and economic ties with the Republic of Malawi.

As noted, both countries advocate for intensifying interaction within authoritative structures, primarily the United Nations. In this regard, confidence was expressed that the current visit of the Vice President of the Republic of Malawi will be an important stage in interstate relations, and the meetings held during it and acquaintance with Turkmenistan will contribute to filling bilateral cooperation with concrete content.

At the same time, it was noted that there is great potential for establishing contacts in the fields of energy, agriculture, healthcare, education and scientific research.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Vice-President of the Republic of Malawi Michael Bizuik Usi confirmed the commitment of both countries to expanding cooperation and wished each other further success in responsible state affairs.
