On 2 June, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as part of his state visit to Mongolia, held a meeting with the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Dashzegviin Amarbayasgalan.
Warmly welcoming the distinguished guest, the head of the Mongolian Parliament noted that it was a great honor for him to meet with the head of Turkmenistan, who is pursuing a constructive peace-loving policy aimed at developing broad regional and international cooperation. In this regard, the importance of the high-level bilateral talks held in Ulaanbaatar, which opened a new important milestone in the interstate dialogue, was emphasized.
Thanking the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Dashzegviin Amarbayasgalan for the warm welcome, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current meeting would contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and establishing new forms of cooperation between our states, including within the framework of legislative bodies.
As the head of Turkmenistan noted, last year the President of Mongolia paid a state visit to our country, during which a Joint Statement on Interstate Relations and Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Mongolia was adopted, and a Roadmap for 2025-2026 was developed to implement the agreements reached.
The development of inter-parliamentary cooperation is one of the key areas of bilateral partnership, emphasized President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, noting that parliamentary Friendship Groups have been created in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the State Great Khural of Mongolia to support political and diplomatic relations between the two countries through parliamentary diplomacy.
In this context, the head of Turkmenistan identified priority areas for expanding inter-parliamentary ties, including establishing relations between parliamentary Friendship Groups and organizing their working visits, establishing interaction between young parliamentarians, enhancing the role of women in inter-parliamentary cooperation, and exchanging experience in legislative activity between specialized committees.
These areas include support through parliamentary diplomacy for interstate relations, as well as initiatives of Turkmenistan and Mongolia at meetings of major international organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the OSCE Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, and communicating these constructive proposals to the world community. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that this would serve to further expand the Turkmen-Mongolian dialogue in the above-mentioned area.
Having expressed gratitude to the head of Turkmenistan for the important proposals voiced, the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia emphasized that today’s meeting opens up new prospects for deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation, designed to promote the comprehensive development of Turkmen-Mongolian relations.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Speaker of the highest legislative body of Mongolia confirmed the readiness of both countries to maintain and develop ties in this area, which is an important factor in strengthening the ties of friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
