On April 28, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Asad M. Khan, who arrived in our country to participate in the first ministerial forum on sustainable development of the ECO.

Expressing gratitude to the head of state for the time devoted to the meeting, the head of a large regional organization emphasized that the ECO attaches great importance to developing partnership with Turkmenistan, which is confidently following the path of economic progress.

Noting the high organizational level of the current ECO Forum, Asad M. Khan expressed gratitude to the President of the country for the support provided in holding this event.

Warmly welcoming the guest, Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the ECO forum will make a great contribution to strengthening regional economic ties, expanding mutually beneficial relations and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.

As noted, cooperation with the ECO is one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Over many years of interaction, positive experience of partnership with this Organization has been accumulated.

Supporting the initiatives put forward within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Turkmenistan takes an active part in the implementation of mutually beneficial projects. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of relations with this Organization in the trade and economic sector and, especially, in the energy sector.

In this regard, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the readiness of our country, which has huge reserves of natural gas, to diversify supplies of “blue fuel”, including building up partnerships in this area with member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Turkmenistan's favorable geographical location serves as a solid foundation for the development of the transport and logistics sector. Of great importance in this area is the formation of the interconnectedness of all types of transport. In this regard, effective work is underway to create international transport corridors of multi-vector and regional significance North – South and East – West, the head of state said, confirming Turkmenistan's readiness to consider specific proposals for projects related to the formation of transport and transit corridors.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Asad M. Khan expressed their best wishes to each other.
