On April 17, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Turkmenistan Amer bin Ali Al-Shehri, who presented his credentials to the head of state.

Expressing gratitude for the hospitality shown and noting the Kingdom’s high appreciation of Turkmenistan’s achievements in various fields, the Ambassador, taking the opportunity, conveyed warm greetings to the head of state and Hero-Arkadag on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Having warmly welcomed and congratulated him on his appointment to a high diplomatic post, the President of Turkmenistan wished the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia great success in consistently strengthening bilateral relations. The head of state also addressed his best wishes to the leadership of the friendly country.

It was further emphasized that both countries successfully interact not only in a bilateral format, but also within the framework of authoritative international structures, primarily the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Speaking about this, the head of state Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the Saudi side for its active support of Turkmenistan’s initiatives and proposals on the world stage.

During the exchange of views on the current state and prospects of interstate partnership in the trade and economic sphere, the annually increasing trade turnover between the countries was noted, as well as the availability of all opportunities for further intensification of targeted interaction.

Among the promising vectors of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were identified the fuel and energy, trade, investment, transport and communications sectors, the chemical industry, textile and agricultural industries.

At the same time, as was noted, there are great opportunities for joint work in the spheres of culture, science, art and creativity.

Having emphasized the need to study the rich historical and cultural heritage of the two peoples within the framework of cultural and humanitarian partnership, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to the traditionally mutually beneficial dialogue with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Expressing confidence in the consistent development of bilateral relations for the sake of well-being and prosperity of both countries and their peoples, the head of state addressed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Turkmenistan with his best wishes.

At the end of the meeting, the diplomat once again expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the warm welcome and assured that he would make every effort to further strengthen the traditionally friendly interstate relations.
