On April 3, 2025, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan for the first Summit Central Asia-European Union, met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Warmly greeting each other, the heads of the two neighboring states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss the current state and priority aspects of further development of traditionally friendly and fraternal bilateral relations.
Noting that he was sincerely pleased to meet with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand, a city with ancient history, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the invitation to participate in the first Central Asia-European Union Summit and wished all the planned events a success, as well as thanked for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the delegation of Turkmenistan.
The head of Turkmenistan emphasized that the Republic of Uzbekistan is our sincere friend and close neighbor, with which effective cooperation in various spheres is carried out. Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed to his counterpart warm greetings and best wishes from the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag.
Thanking the head of Turkmenistan for accepting the invitation to visit Samarkand and participate in the first Summit of CA-EU format, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes to Hero-Arkadag, noting the progressive and constructive nature of the interstate dialog.
During the meeting, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction that Turkmen-Uzbek relations, characterized by a high level of trust and mutual support, are dynamically developing in a wide range of areas, including agriculture, electric power, oil and gas complex, chemical industry and other sectors.
Special attention was paid to the development of transport and energy corridors, strengthening of interregional ties, as well as joint work to address pressing issues of sustainable development and stability in Central Asia. In this context, confidence was expressed that this Summit would be an important step towards a closer and mutually beneficial partnership between Central Asia and the European Union.
It was also noted that contacts between the business circles of two countries have recently intensified.
Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov once again thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his great personal contribution to the development of interstate dialog.
At the end of the meeting, the heads of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan expressed confidence in further strengthening and expansion of the traditionally friendly and good-neighborly Turkmen-Uzbek relations, wishing each other good health and success in state activity, and to fraternal peoples of both countries well-being and prosperity.
