On March 3, 2025, the National Leader of Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

At the beginning, the National Leader of Turkmen people and the Amir of Qatar congratulated each other and the friendly peoples of two countries on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and expressed wishes that fasting, prayers and good deeds performed during this blessed month would be accepted by the Almighty.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan noted that Turkmenistan highly values relations with the State of Qatar and attaches great importance to their expansion in all priority areas, and expressed sincere gratitude to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for his input to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The Amir of the State of Qatar emphasized the significance of the multifaceted work of Hero-Arkadag in strengthening traditionally friendly interstate relations, and conveyed greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan and Qatar successfully cooperate both at the bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations. Mutual support for the initiatives and proposals put forward by two countries in the framework of reputable international organizations is a vivid evidence of this.

It was noted that trade and economic relations are an important vector of interstate cooperation.

In this regard, Hero-Arkadag emphasized the prospects of Turkmen-Qatar interaction, including trade, transportation, oil and gas sector, chemical and textile industry, investment sector. Assuredness was expressed that mutually beneficial projects will be successfully implemented in these areas based on the existing potential and accumulated positive experience.

It was emphasized that peoples of two countries are linked by the closeness of history, culture, traditions, customs, spiritual and moral values. This serves as a solid basis for further development of bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

In this regard, the National Leader of Turkmen people reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to the traditional friendly relations with Qatar, expressing confidence that the interstate dialog for the well-being and prosperity of two countries and nations will continue to develop.

As is well known, this year is a landmark year for Turkmenistan. Upon the initiative of Turkmenistan, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled “2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust”.

“In this regard, work is carried out to organize and host various political events at a high level together with neighboring countries and international structures,” the Hero-Arkadag said and added that the International Forum of Peace and Trust will be held in Ashgabat on December 12, 2025 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality. The National Leader of Turkmen people invited Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to participate in this international forum and celebrations, noting that this will contribute to their success.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani wished each other sound health and success in state activities for the prosperity and well-being of two brotherly peoples.
