It has become a good tradition in Turkmenistan to give a name to each year. Following this tradition, as well as given numerous requests and wishes of the citizens, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution, according to which the year of 2018 will be held in the country under the motto: “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road”.

President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution of Convocation of the first session of the National Council of Turkmenistan (Halk Maslahaty) in 2018.

Award ceremony and conferment of the titles to the citizens of our country who were highly appreciated for honest and exemplary work as well as on occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan took place at the session of the Council of the Elders.

During the Elder’s Council meeting, the Chairperson of Mejlis informed that the Parliament of Turkmenistan had taken the decision to confer the highest state award – Hero of Turkmenistan to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution on regulation of consumer tariffs for gas, electricity, living and communal, automobile transport and communication services.

The Council of the Elders continues its work in Ak Bugday etrap, Ahal Velayat. On October 9, important issues of the state life have been reviewed. Discussion of the subjects of the agenda of the Council has taken place in the afternoon and deputies of the Mejlis have adopted number of bills.

The regular twenty third session of the Mejlis of the fifth convocation in which a number of laws and regulatory legal acts were accepted, took place. For participation in the session representatives of related ministries and departments and also mass media were invited.

It is offered a proposal on behalf of cultural figures to change the dates of certain national holidays at today's Council of Elders.

The President of Turkmenistan speaking at the Council of Elders emphasized that since 2008 the Council plays an important role in the scheme of things. There were often proposals by the citizens to change the legal status of the Council with a view to improving its activities and expanding its functions.

Speaking at the session of the Council of the Elders, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov outlined the main directions of investment policy of Turkmenistan for 2018 – 2024 and the growth points of industrial complex of the country.
