Turkmenistan observes the World Bicycle Day, which was established by the United Nations General Assembly by initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with big celebration events.

Video conference session on priority directions of cooperation in human right protection sphere has been held with participation of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan and international partners. The session was organized together with the United Nations Development Programme.

The conference hall of the Yildyz Hotel hosted two-day video conference discussion on recommendation related to digital transformation of printing media of Turkmenistan. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture of our country and the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat.

The Foreign Ministry hosted online session of Modernization Group of the Energy Charter Agreement. Delegations of the Secretariat of the Energy Charter, European Union and other organizations took part in multilateral talks. The sides expressed interest in comprehensive improvement of productive cooperation in energy sphere, which is aimed at global sustainable development.

Today early in the morning, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov opened the new monument “Bicycle”, erected in the south of the Turkmen capital, at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains.

“I congratulate you on the widely celebrated World Bicycle Day! I believe that the celebrations dedicated to this holiday will multiply the pride in our independent neutral state in our hearts and inspire to new successes”, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in his congratulatory address.

Online meeting of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with President of International Cycling Union (UCI) David Lappartient and Head of ARETI International Group of Company, Member of the UCI Board Committee Igor Makarov was held on the threshold of the World Cycling Day.

In his address to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), David Lappartient informed on the decision of the UCI Steering Committee to award the Turkmen leader for his immense contribution to the development of world cycling.

According to the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, Rasul Babayev has been released from the post of the Director of Sport TV Channel of the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography for serious failures admitted in his work.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held online talks with Vice-premier, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation Albert Karimov.
