President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has visited the site of the large construction project ongoing in the Turkmen capital to check on the progress of works, the city’s redevelopment and social infrastructure improvement.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Baku to take part in the Summit of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Movement, had a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Today, a new two-story building has opened its doors in the village of Pyakize, Gurbansoltan eje etrap, Dashoguz velayat as part of reconstruction efforts of the local Health House. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of velayat and etrap administrations, public organizations, elders and young people.

Speaking from the rostrum of the Baku Summit of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that Turkmenistan called for cooperation of the member states of the Movement to address climate change. In this regard, particular attention should be paid to the consolidation of efforts to implement the 2030 Global Agenda and Paris Agreement.

Addressing the students from Turkmenistan, who study in the higher educational institutions in Japan, the President of Turkmenistan focused on the agenda of the meeting with Japanese businessmen scheduled for October 23.

Upon completion of the extended meeting of the State Security Council, the President of Turkmenistan together with the head of the Mejlis and Deputy Vice Premiers of the Cabinet of Ministers walked around the center of Ashgabat, paying attention to its improvement and landscaping.

The capital hosted the session of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan under the chairmanship of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The agenda of national forum included priority objectives of further development of the country, implementation of fundamental changes and reforms.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a videoconference meeting with the participation of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in charge of the agricultural sector, the heads of several ministries and departments. The meeting agenda includes priority tasks of the socio-economic development of the country, the progress of seasonal agricultural campaigns, as well as a number of organizational issues.

In order to strengthen the legal foundations of the state policy in the field of environmental protection, identify the key areas of work to prevent climate change and reduce their negative impact, as well as implement international legal instruments, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution, approving the new edition of the National Strategy for climate change.

The World Health Organization awarded the status of National Influenza Centre and the membership of the WHO Global System for Influenza Epidemiological Monitoring and Response to National Laboratory of the Centre of Public Health and Nutrition of Turkmenistan (virology department with reference laboratory).
