On January 29, 2025, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, during which an interested exchange of views took place on a number of important issues of bilateral cooperation.
Noting with satisfaction the dynamic and consistent nature of the interaction between Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that in recent years this process has gained good momentum, covers more and more areas and directions and, taking this opportunity, conveyed words of greetings from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Having highly assessed the current state of bilateral relations, President Sadyr Japarov emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s interest in their development and expansion, and also addressed warm greetings and best wishes to the head of state Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan for its continued support of Turkmenistan’s international initiatives.
“We highly value this position, we value the mutual understanding and trust that characterize bilateral relations today” the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty emphasized, especially noting the importance of Kyrgyzstan’s support for the UN General Assembly Resolution on declaring 2025 the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” initiated by our country.
It was emphasized that Turkmenistan, in turn, also supports significant international initiatives and proposals of Kyrgyzstan in the UN, in particular, on environmental issues.
It was noted that Turkmenistan supports measures aimed at protecting the natural and ecological environment in the region, which will allow for the rational and balanced use of its water resources in the interests of the socio-economic development of our countries.
Recalling that at the One Water Summit in Riyadh, Turkmenistan confirmed its position on water issues, the National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed the readiness of our country, together with Kyrgyzstan, to actively contribute to their solution.
In terms of ecological balance, our country’s support for the recent UN General Assembly Resolution on the proclamation of International Mountain Leopard Day, initiated by the Kyrgyz Republic, was also noted. Turkmenistan, as is known, was among the co-authors of the resolution, which testifies to the high level of mutual understanding between our countries on the main international platform.
During the conversation, it was stated that bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan are on the rise today. Contacts are carried out on a regular basis at the governmental, diplomatic, and departmental levels.
A serious impetus to cooperation was given by the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov to Turkmenistan in June 2021, during which key agreements on partnership in various areas were reached.
Noting the mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan expressed the readiness of the Turkmen side to further develop partnership in this area, its expansion and diversification.
Having invited the President of Kyrgyzstan to the upcoming Forum of the International Year of Peace and Trust, the National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed confidence that Sadyr Japarov’s personal participation would be an important contribution to its successful implementation.
President Sadyr Japarov, in turn, invited the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan to visit the Kyrgyz Republic at any convenient time.
Emphasizing the desire of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to further develop productive ties, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov exchanged wishes of peace, well-being and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
