Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has participated in a mass bike ride timed to coincide with World Health Day. According to the well-established tradition, this date, enshrined in the national calendar, is annually widely celebrated in Turkmenistan, demonstrating solidarity with the international community in promoting the principles of a healthy and active lifestyle in the world.
In the morning, members of the Government, officials of the Mejlis, ministries and departments, military and law enforcement agencies, public organizations, the media, and rectors of universities gathered at the “Bicycle” Monument located at the intersection of the Chandybil Avenue and the Bekreve Street, where the bike ride route begins. Among the action participants were heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in our country.
The participants included athletes of the national cycling team of Turkmenistan, students, pupils of the School for the preparation of young Olympic athletes, secondary schools and the Döwletliler köşgi Palace, and members of the public.
On the occasion of World Health Day, art figures of the country performed with a colorful musical and dance composition.
Having launched the mass cycling action, the head of state led the column of participants dressed in appropriate sportswear. Following the President of Turkmenistan, all of them began a well-coordinated movement along the route that runs along the spacious metropolitan avenues.
Meanwhile, the column of bike ride participants, headed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, continued their way along the most beautiful highways of the capital, harmoniously blending with the urban landscape.
Performances of creative teams took place all along the route of the mass bike ride. Inspiring music and dance compositions and songs glorifying the independent neutral Homeland and its creative policy, celebrating sport as a symbol of peace and friendship, increased the festive atmosphere.
During the cycling cross, the head of state, as always, demonstrated excellent physical and sports training, by personal example confirming the benefits of an active lifestyle that is crucial for health. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, being the honored coach of Turkmenistan, invariably devotes time to practicing various sports. In addition to a beneficial effect on the physical and emotional state of a person, this contributes to the development of such qualities of character as diligence, willpower, determination, fortitude and responsibility.
It should be noted that more and more children and youth are engaged in cycling. Optimal conditions have been created in our country for the comprehensive harmonious development of the younger generation, the realization of their talents and abilities, for their creative and athletic activities. So, pupils of the Young Olympic Athletes Training School and the Döwletliler köşgi Palace, schoolchildren and students joined the current festive action held in the year ongoing under the motto “Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar”. Young athletes always enthusiastically participate in such events, demonstrating their skills and dexterity in cycling.
Green areas are expanding in the capital, the velayats and around them. The laid parks and squares, as well as man-made woodlands have a beneficial effect on the local microclimate. Giving refreshing coolness on hot days, they also reliably protect against strong cold winds, perform the function of “dust collectors”, and contribute to reducing the noise level in settlements.
On the way, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, addressing Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Annamammedov, who is in charge of the capital, instructed him to keep under constant control the issues of further landscaping and trees planting in the city, maintaining exemplary cleanliness, comprehensively upgrading the urban infrastructure, and proper treatment of green plantations. At the same time, the head of state stressed the need to pay unremitting attention to providing optimally comfortable conditions for people’s lives.
Following the route, the column of cyclists continued along the Bitarap Turkmenistan Avenue towards the center of Ashgabat. Our capital, which impresses with its monumentality and originality of its architectural ensemble, is rightfully recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the region and around the world. The citizens of Ashgabat and entire Turkmenistan are sincerely proud of the fact that a number of metropolitan facilities, as well as Ashgabat itself, as a city with the highest concentration of white marble buildings in the world, are included in the Guinness Book of Records.
In the meantime, life was already in full swing in the capital. The inspiring atmosphere that reigned from early morning in the capital city of the country brought people into a cheerful mood and filled them with enthusiasm, setting the pace and rhythm for the whole day.
In the center of Ashgabat, near the Rukhyet Palace, a mass bike ride, timed to coincide with World Health Day, finished. This sporting and environmental action has become another symbolic expression of the unity and cohesion of our society, its commitment to the principles of a healthy lifestyle and the chosen creative path.
Being a living embodiment of strength, beauty and health, the aspiration of the spirit to the heights of perfection, sport is a significant factor in educating a physically strong and spiritually rich young generation, the future of the Homeland, with a broad outlook and modern knowledge.
