Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has left for an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The current visit is intended to open a new important chapter in the history of interstate relations, which are based on the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and spiritual kinship that bind the peoples of the two countries, as well as the mutual desire to develop full-scale cooperation for the common good.

At the Ashgabat International Airport, the head of state was escorted by officials.

...Two and a half hours later, the presidential airliner landed at the Muharraq International Airport, decorated with the National Flags of the two friendly countries.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa and other officials warmly and cordially welcomed the President of Turkmenistan at the ramp of the plane.

From the airport, the motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan headed to the residence assigned to him for the duration of the official visit, located in the fashionable Four Seasons Hotel.

On February 22, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will meet with the King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

It should be noted that this is the first visit of the head of the Turkmen state to a friendly country, which determines its special importance for the further strengthening and development of bilateral cooperation, which is now reaching a qualitatively new level.

Thus, the upcoming summit is destined to identify priority areas of mutually beneficial partnership, taking into account modern realities and solid potential for cooperation both in the trade and economic sphere and in the cultural and humanitarian field. At the same time, this visit will be another step towards the implementation of the policy of broad international cooperation carried out by independent neutral Turkmenistan, aimed at a constructive dialogue with all countries of the world, including Arab states.

Turkmenistan and Bahrain traditionally cooperate in a multilateral format, within the framework of international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Kingdom of Bahrain constantly supports the constructive initiatives of the President of our country.

Having established diplomatic relations in December 1995, Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain strive to give the partnership a long-term, full-scale character based on the principles of mutual benefit, trust and respect for each other’s interests. The new historical epoch has opened up broad prospects for building fruitful ties in a variety of industries.

One of the priority areas of interstate cooperation is the fuel and energy complex, which is strategic for the economies of the two countries. At the same time, taking into account the mutual intention of the parties to diversify effective contacts, there are good opportunities for establishing cooperation in other areas, including in the financial and investment sector, maritime transport, as well as in the tourism industry and sports, the development of which is given great attention in Turkmenistan and Bahrain.

The large-scale transformative programs implemented in Turkmenistan under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and aimed at the country’s progress, the complete modernization of the socio-economic infrastructure, have led to an ever-growing interest in the dynamically developing Turkmen market of Bahrain’s business circles.

Great importance is also attached to humanitarian contacts, which are a kind of bridge of friendship and mutual understanding between the two fraternal peoples connected by common spiritual and cultural traditions.

The official visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Kingdom of Bahrain is intended to lay a solid foundation for the further successful development of a fruitful interstate dialogue.
