Today, in honour of the 29th anniversary of the introduction of the national manat into circulation, the Turkmen State Institute of Economy and Management has hosted the scientific-practical conference.
Heads and specialists of the financial and economic sector of the country, academic and teaching staffs and students of profile educational institutions as well as representatives of mass media attended the forum.
The date of introduction of the national currency – November 1, 1993 has entered into the annals of the fatherland as one of the significant events of the epoch of creative transformations. The manat has become an attribute of Turkmen statehood, a symbol of stability and guiding factor in the strengthening of independence of the country.
The agenda of the present conference included topical issues of development of the banking system in the new historical epoch.
Participants of the forum heard with great attention the message of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, which underlines that with introduction of the national currency into circulation, favourable factors appeared to develop economy harmoniously and pursue efficiently the unified state monetary and credit policy.
In the forum papers on radical transformations in the banking system and peculiarities of its digitalization as well as cooperation with international financial institutions in investment of projects and programs of development of national economy and the role of the banking sphere in ensuring stability of economic growth, were delivered.
One should note that thanks to the steps taken, the national currency manat more and more actively functions in the modern electronic format as well. Use of national bankcards “Altyn asyr”, “Millikart”, “Maşgala”, “Goýum bank kartasy”, “Owerdraft kartasy” as well as international bankcards “VISA” and “MasterCard” by Turkmen nationals opened a new stage in development of monetary circulation.
Besides it, bank deposit cards, which enable to make noncash payment through payment terminals, internet banking services and mobile banking and to determine the balance on deposit and accrued interest through the internet act as an active tool for efficient use of free funds by population and increase in their revenues.
Upon completion of the scientific-practical conference, its participants adopted a letter of gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which they assured that they would further work selflessly for successful solution of tasks set before them.
On the sidelines of the present event, the exhibition of samples of monetary symbols as well as commemorative coins from precious metals issued by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan for years of independence, national jewellery articles, materials devoted to the history of national numismatics was organized. The books by Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took a special place in the exposition.
