Two new freight diesel locomotives arrived in Turkmenistan from the People's Republic of China on the eve of the approaching significant date - the 31st anniversary of state independence.
The purchase of locomotives from the CRRC Ziyango Co. plant, which are distinguished by reliability and carrying capacity, has become another symbol of fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation between the two friendly countries, which celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in January this year.
Thus, during a recent meeting with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that at present China is the largest trade and economic partner of Turkmenistan.
The key vectors in this area include strengthening of the material and technical base of the industry, introduction of scientific achievements and digital technologies into its activities, improvement of management on the principles of market economy, expansion of the country's transit potential, creation of transport and logistics centers, and promotion of transport diplomacy.
Thus, in the Epoch of the Revival of a new era of a powerful state, the modernization of the transport sector, as one of the intensively developing and promising segments of the national economy, remains among the priority tasks set in the context of important international initiatives put forward by our country.
As is known, the initiative of Turkmenistan was approved by the international community adopted by the UN General Assembly on July 29, 2021 by the Resolution “Strengthening links between all modes of transport to ensure stable and reliable international transportation for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic” , which highlights the importance of integrated, sustainable transport in achieving progress and aims to create a global platform for joining efforts in this direction.
The cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the field of transport contributes not only to the strengthening of the traditional partnership, which, by mutual will of the parties, is of a strategic nature, but also to the rapid development of this most important industry, which faces the task of improving the quality of services provided to the population, increasing the volume of passenger and cargo transportation, expanding transit potential.
The arrival of new high-quality diesel locomotives, which have replenished the locomotive depot, will also contribute to a more productive and active work of the railway, and hence to further progressive socio-economic development of the country.
