Today, a briefing was held at which the preliminary results of voting on the election of the President of Turkmenistan were announced.
The meeting was attended by correspondents of major foreign and domestic news agencies, electronic, print and other media, international observers.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission briefly informed those present about the large-scale work done to prepare and organize this significant social and political action and thanked all the participants in the electoral process. Special gratitude was expressed to the media representatives who provided information support for the campaign at all its stages.
As emphasized, the Turkmen people demonstrated indestructible solidarity and unity, fidelity to the sacred precepts of their ancestors, and took an important step towards the further development of the Motherland. It was noted that the presidential elections were held at a high organizational level, in an atmosphere of general enthusiasm and high emotional upsurge.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission noted that in general, 97.17 percent of voters took part in the voting, which testifies to the high civil activity of the population, its conscious desire to become a direct participant in the further process of democratic transformations in Turkmenistan.
At present, the counting of votes continues, taking into account data from some polling stations at the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan abroad, which are received with a delay due to the difference in time zones.
The final results of the voting will be summed up and made public in the near future.
