An international media forum dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality brought together leaders and representatives of authoritative international and regional media organizations, diplomatic circles, political experts. More than 300 foreign participants from 68 countries joined the discussions via videoconference meeting. The online meeting was arranged in the hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasizes, speaking during various high-level forums, neutrality is a basic element of the state policy implemented by Turkmenistan, aimed at achieving the key goals of the third millennium - ensuring global peace and sustainable development on the basis of equal partnership of all interested countries, strengthening political, economic and cultural cooperation between them, harmonious mutual enrichment of cultures of the peoples of the planet. This idea was emphasized by the participants of the current media forum, who presented specific examples of how Turkmenistan had managed to prove the high efficiency of the neutral status of the state over the past 25 years. In February 2017, at the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly, with the co-authorship of a significant number of states, proclaimed December 12 as International Day of Neutrality, and last year adopted the Resolution declaring 2021 the International Year of Peace and Trust. Moreover, the Turkmen leader put forward another initiative - to hold an International Forum of Peace and Trust next year. Acting Head of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Chairman and Director General of Turkish Radio Television Corporation (TRT), Ibrahim Eren expressed keen interest of the countries in the region and the continent in the positive experience of Turkmen neutrality. Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Javad Mottaghi underlined that due to the policy of neutrality, Turkmenistan had provided a platform for constructive dialogue and international partnership, making a significant contribution to ensuring peace and stability in the region and the entire planet. The Chief Executive Officer of the Prasar Bharati Board, the heads of the MTV Channel Group from Sri Lanka, the EU Institute for Security Studies and other speakers underlined the importance of coordinated efforts of the world community with the aim to resolve conflict issues in different parts of the planet. The forum participants underlined that neutrality of Turkmenistan could become an effective tool for reaching consensus decisions and congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the people of our country on the coming anniversary of Turkmen neutrality.
