Rejepbay Rejepov, silver medallist of the last world tournament in Anaheim, represented Turkmenistan in men’s 81 kg weight category on the fifth day of the World Weightlifting Championship. In the snatch, Rejepbay declared 160 kg in the first attempt and confidently managed with this weight. However, he could not lift 166 kg in the second attempt. Having lifted this weight in the third attempt, he missed the opportunity to set the world record. His opponent from China Lyu Xiaojun was more lucky and lifted the record of 172 kg. Bit Mohamed Mahmoud from Egypt exceeded this achievement by one kilo and put Chinese sportsmen to the second position. Another sportsman from China Li Dayin who set junior world record of 168 kg took the bronze. Rejepbay Rejepov was the fifth. Turkmen weightlifter was fighting till the end for the champion’s title in the clean-and-jerk and in total. The contest has reached the culmination in the third attempt when the weight declared by the leaders exceeded 200 kg. Rejepbay went up to the podium one of the last with intent to lift 203 kg but had no luck. He became the fifth in the clean-and-jerk with 197 kg. Li Dayin, who set junior record in 204 kg, was the winner in this discipline. His teammate Lyu Xiaojun is one the second position. Moahamed Mahmoud won the bronze. Lyu Xiaojun with the world record of 374 kg became the world champion by the amount of two disciplines. Egyptian Mohamed Mahmoud won the silver while bronze medal and junir record of 372 kg was taken by Li Dayin. Turkmen weightlifter Rejepbay Rejepov is on the fourth position.
