A National Industrial Exhibition of the Republic of Uzbekistan has opened in the Expo Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. Held in the Turkmen capital for the first time ever and initiated by the two neighboring states’ leaders, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the specialized economic exposition aims to deepen and expand areas of trade-economic cooperation, and build closer partner relations between the friendly countries. The exhibition was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. A big delegation of 250 senior executives and specialists of 70-plus companies and enterprises, representing Uzbekistan’s diversified industrial potential, has arrived in Ashgabat to take part in the exhibition. A strong interest of Uzbek producers in long-term cooperation with Turkmen partners is eloquently demonstrated by the fact that both large state-owned enterprises and private companies alike are among the exhibitors. Mejlis representatives, government members, heads of the ministries, agencies, and diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, media representatives, and businessmen from the two countries were in attendance at the grand opening ceremony. Corporations and companies, working in a broad range of sectors, such as mining, metallurgy, oil and gas, machine building, electric power, textiles, chemicals, building materials, home appliances, food processing, pharmaceuticals and trade, are presenting their products and services on display stands. The exposition also showcases the achievements of the national auto industry, a wide spectrum of insurance services, as well as the unique charm of national arts and crafts, and the Uzbek nation’s cultural identity. Exhibition stands of the Turkmen-Uzbek Trading House and the Export Promotion Fund for Small Business and Private Entrepreneurship of Uzbekistan offer a venue for business meetings and negotiations between entrepreneurs of the two countries. The organizations’ top priorities are to further enhance export potential, help to facilitate production, and promote products in foreign markets. The neighboring country’s first National Industrial Exhibition in Turkmenistan has provided a showcase for Uzbek manufacturers, and an effective platform for the exchange of advanced solutions and technologies. It will offer the possibilities to expand business activities and establish direct contacts between partners. Filled with qualitatively new meaning, cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has become a solid foundation for closer mutually rewarding relations with considerable potential. The 2017 official visits by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to our country significantly contributed to this, and marked a new stage in the interstate relations, which have the rich history and time-honored traditions of fraternity, neighborliness and mutually advantageous partnership. The top-level talks culminated in agreement reached on a number of important issues and the signing of an extensive package of documents, in particular the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The exhibition will be open to residents and visitors to the capital until March 31.
