The solemn ceremony of opening of the international airport as well as the launch of the “Amul-Hazar 2018” motor rally, the bike ride and field-and-track cross-country race will take place in Lebap Velayat on February 26. The progress of preparations for these events was considered during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the forthcoming events in Lebap Velayat would become the significant achievements in the life of our country. The increase in the number of transport links will ensure the further dynamic development of the eastern region, which possesses huge reserves of natural resources that will promote the development of the industry and transformation of Turkmenistan into an industrialized state. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also underlined the importance of the forthcoming major international sports events “Amul-Hazar 2018”, aimed at the wide popularization of the heritage of the Great Silk Road and the national historical and cultural legacy. The Turkmen leader noted that the events, combining the cultural and recreational missions, would contribute to the establishment of the active lifestyle in the society, promote the study of local lore, and the interest in the national history. It was noted that the policy pursued by our country to maintain the healthy lifestyle, the development of sports provides good results. That is vividly proved by the medals and prizes gained by our athletes at the international tournaments. The V Asian Games, where Turkmen sportsmen won the first place, were held at the high organizational level. Significant events in the sports life of the country will be the bike ride and field-and-track cross-country race, which will be launched in the coming days, the international rally, and the world weightlifting championship. The President of Turkmenistan summed up that all of them would give a powerful impetus to the development of these sports in our country.
