Ring power-transmission system in Turkmenistan

Reporting during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers D. Amangeldiev noted that in order to ensure the uninterrupted power supply to consumers, it is planned to build up a ring energy system. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, there are currently 13 power stations in the country. In order to ensure the uninterrupted power supply to consumers, it is planned to build up a ring energy system. In particular, it is planned to build a two-ring 220 kV transmission line and a 220-kV power plant that will unite the energy systems of the Ahal and Balkan Velayats, as well as a 500 kV single-ring power line and a 500-kV power plant in the city of Balkanabat, 500 kV and 200 kV power stations – in the city of Dashoguz and 220 kV power lines that will unite them. It was also reported that it is planned to build the power engineering equipment service center. Commenting on the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that the government would continue paying particular attention to enhancing the capacity and strengthening the material and technical base of the industry. The state energy policy is aimed to satisfy the needs of the industry, agricultural sector, social sphere, as well as to increase the export volumes. The Turkmen leader gave specific instructions to speed up the implementation of the sectoral infrastructural projects in order to build up the ring energy system. The President of Turkmenistan approved the proposal to establish the power engineering equipment service center, underlining the importance to introduce progressive forms of management and management methods.
