Ashgabat hosted the Culture Days of Romania

The capital hosted a solemn opening ceremony of the Culture Days of Romania in Turkmenistan. A creative action is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and is an important step, encouraging the development of the Turkmen-Turkish dialogue. In May of this year, for the first time and with great success, Romania – Bucharest and Iasi hosted the Culture Days of Turkmenistan. During this action, it was signed an Agreement on cooperation between the culture ministries of the two countries. Prospects for the implementation of this Agreement were discussed today during the reception of the official delegation of Romania at the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. The leaders in the sphere of culture of the friendly country were apprised of the foreign policy priorities of the independent neutral Turkmen state, one of which is the development of international humanitarian cooperation. There was also a need for professional interaction between Museum professionals, interpreters, Opera singers. The official opening ceremony of the Culture Days of Romania was held in the evening at the Metropolitan Mukams Palace of the State Cultural Center, which brought together representatives of creative intelligentsia, diplomatic missions, accredited to Turkmenistan, mass media, youth. State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and National Identity of Romania Alexandru Oprean greeted the ceremony participants. Congratulating the attendees on the remarkable event, he emphasized that friendly relations, developed between our countries, allow us to successfully extend our multifaceted partnership, destined to serve the interests of the two peoples. Upon completion of the official part, a concert with participation of soloist of the National Opera of Bucharest Irina Iordachescu and the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan took place. The Romanian cantatrice is the laureate of prestigious international contests and well known to classical music amateurs by performances on famous world stages. The unforgettable lyric soprano’s repertoire is complex and diverse both in style and genre. Irina Iordachescu included works from the world classical music treasury in the Ashgabat performance program. She performed arias familiar to music lovers: Lauretta from the Comic Opera “Gianni Schicchi” and Liu from “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini, La Wally from the eponymous Opera by Alfredo Catalani, Norma from Opera by Vincenzo Bellini. Audience applauded to melodies of Romanian composer and folklorist Tiberiu Brediceanu. The outright gift for the Turkmen people was the “Toy aidymy” famous song by Turkmen composer Chary Nurymov, performed by the Romanian singer. The audience responded with thunderous applause to the excellence of rendition, brilliant talent and fiery temperament of the vocalist. In its turn, as a gift for our guests, the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan performed works by Romanian composers: “Romanian Rhapsody No. 1” and “Ballad” for violin and orchestra by George Enescu, “Hora Staccato” by Grigoras Dinicu, the famous waltz “The Danube Waves” by Ion Ivanovici and “Doina” Romanian folk dance – one of the most famous Romanian melodies in the world. Works, representing the Turkmen musical culture, became an essential part of the concert program. In conclusion of the musical evening, Irina Iordachescu magnificently presented the popular number “Music” from “The Danube Waves” operetta by Romanian composer George Grigoriu. In a lobby of the Mukams Palace, it was held a photo exhibition, representing the artifacts of the National Museum of Romanian History, the largest museum collection of this country, keeping artifacts from prehistoric times to the present. The museum is also a platform which regularly hosts the world’s best archaeological collections. The photos represent exhibits of national treasures: the crown jewels, belonged to the last Romanian monarchs, jewelry, referring to the 14th century. A separate range of photos is devoted to the Neolithic and Paleolithic.
