During the 1st Turkmen-Chinese Forum “Innovations, new technologies and the issues of their introduction into the industry”, held in Ashgabat last week, the parties outlined steps for further effective cooperation in the field of tackling the urgent scientific issues. In particular, proposals were made to expand the legal framework for a long-term scientific partnership, and establish an intergovernmental commission for cooperation in science and innovative technologies. In order to continue the dialogue, it was proposed to hold a second similar bilateral forum in the People’s Republic of China in 2018, as well as organize on-the-job training of Turkmen specialists in research institutions of China, professional exchanges and a joint information project - a website on Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in science and innovation technologies. The forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the Department of Science and Technology of the Chinese provinces of Hubei and Guangdong, the Asia-Europe Forum, as well as 11 research institutes and four higher educational institutions of China. Turkmenistan was represented by 468 scientists and specialists from 57 scientific and educational institutions of the country.
