First African Gyoresh Championship was held in Capetown, South African Republic on May 18 – 22 as well as African Continent Gyoresh Federation was founded. Wrestlers from more than 10 countries took part in the championship. The competitions were held in six weight categories – three men and three women. Representatives of Turkmenistan National belt Wrestling Federation were the referees of the tournament. Growing popularity of Turkmen wrestling is a result of the great efforts of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the development of sports including its national types. The State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan in cooperation with competent international and national sport organizations carries out steadfast work for establishment of continental gyoresh federations and inclusion of this sport to the programme of the Olympic Games. As for today, cooperation of the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan and World Gyoresh Federation resulted in foundation of National federations of this sport in more than twenty countries of the world. Close partnership is established between them. One of the forms of such partnership is an organization of regional competitions what helps further promotion of Turkmen gyoresh in the world’s sport arena. European Gyoresh Federation was founded in Lithuanian Republic in March 2017 and already on April 29 – May 2, Serbian Novi Sad hosted first in the history Europe Gyoresh Championship with participation of the wrestlers from 10 countries – Belarus, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia, Georgia, Ukraine and Russia. The competition was held in two weight categories 70 and 90 kg both for men and women. Specialists of the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan in collaboration with the World Belt Wrestling Committee as well as with World Gyoresh Federation founded in 2015 with the headquarter in Ashgabat, carries out steadfast work for further spread of Turkmen Gyoresh in different parts of the world. Good news on foundation of Gyoresh federation in South America came in May of the last year. First continental Gyoresh championship is planned in the end of 2017. Besides, Gyoresh competitions are included into the programme of the World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland.
