Resolution of Tasks to Tackle Corruption and Bribery Discussed at Turkmenistan’s National Parliament

The National Parliament of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting to discuss tasks set by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers that took place on 12 May, specifically those targeted at fighting corruption and bribery. The meeting was attended by the members of the National Parliament; Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers; Secretary of the State Security Council; heads of provincial administrations and mayor of Ashgabat. The participants of the meeting discussed the set of measures aimed at eradicating corruption and bribery; the development of the program to fight these negative occurrences. In the light of the above, the significance of Turkmenistan’s Law on Civil Service was stressed. The Law determines the legal and organizational foundations of civil service; the conditions and procedures under which the citizens of Turkmenistan exercise their right for civil service. During the meeting, the ways of improving the legislation to fight corruption and bribery, cases of which are especially unacceptable in law enforcement system, were specified.
