On behalf of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, they were awarded with monetary and valuable gifts and beautiful spring flowers. The Council of the Elders, the Ministry of Defence, public organizations of the country, administrations of the capital and region were the organizers of the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 72nd ceremony of the Great Victory. War veterans and soldiers’ widows, representatives of government organizations, military and law enforcement departments, universities, government employees, cultural workers and student were invited to the ceremony. Deep gratitude to the generation of the 40s for their unparalleled feat was expressed from the stage. Their fortitude and love of the native land deserves respect and will always serve as high moral example for young generation. In their speeches, the veterans and widows expressed the gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for care and attention to the participants of war and families of soldiers killed in battles. Owing to social benefits presented by the initiative of the Head of the State, all conditions for their deserving life were made. In solemn atmosphere, the veterans and widows of the heroes were presented with memorable gifts and flowers. After, the best music, folk and dance bands, famous singers and young artists demonstrated their skills and talent. The concert programme included the wartime songs, compositions of prominent Turkmen composers and modern authors, poems of famous poets of the country. The ceremony of honouring veterans and widows of killed warriors was also held in the state theatres of the regions. Traditional ceremonies of laying flowers to «Halk hakydasy» Memorial Complex, to the monuments of 1941 – 1945 war heroes of other cities of the country are to take place on the Victory Day on May 9. Concerts, theatre performances, art events and public festivals will be held on that day all around the country.
