The presentation of the official mascot of the 5th Asian Games - the image of Alabai called Vepaly - has taken place in the metropolitan shopping center “Berkarar” 200 days before the start of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. The talisman of the upcoming competition was approved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers at the beginning of this year. Bright puppet in the form of a cute and funny puppy with the characteristics of the breed has attracted the attention of buyers, especially children, who immediately surrounded it. This character has a special role in creating a holiday atmosphere, reflecting hospitality, cordiality and friendship during the Games, filling them with good emotions. Turkmens have developed such unique breeds like Akhal-Teke horses, the Turkmen Alabay, the hunting dog Tazy and were able to keep them virtually unchanged to this day, having lost neither any of their own breeding traditions nor emotional attachment to their pets. Alabay are brave dogs that can be quite formidable in appearance, but the outer shell conceals a sensitive heart, which can appreciate good attitude. This is why today during the presentation organized by the Executive Committee for preparation for the 5th Asian Games and the National Olympic Committee, the charming puppy was surrounded by cheerful songs and ringing laughter of children. Alabay, being one of the symbols of the Games, is presented in a stylized national dress or a tracksuit. And unusual “color” in green gives it some magical, fairy-tale hero entourage. He was not chosen to be a mascot by chance, because the Turkmen Alabay is a true friend and protector, strong and brave, which makes one feel safe, and in the people’s minds it symbolizes the will to victory, invincibility and passion for sports. At the same time, we see boundless loyalty and trust in him. Trust and friendship have become the key concepts of this image.
