Today, a ceremony was held at the «Mekan» Palace of the Ashgabat City Administration to present cash and valuable gifts to war veterans on the occasion of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, as well as to the spouses of fallen soldiers, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.

 Victory Day is a holiday that symbolises the triumph of peace, friendship, solidarity, and glorifies the high feelings of patriotism and humanism. The Turkmen people made a worthy contribution to the Great Victory. In the first days of the war, thousands of Turkmen youths voluntarily went to the front and, together with representatives of fraternal peoples, demonstrated high patriotism and heroism in fierce battles. For their valour and fearlessness, hundreds of our compatriots were awarded the high title of Hero, and thousands of our soldiers were awarded orders and medals. As is well known, among them was the great-grandfather of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the grandfather of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov – Berdimuhamet Annayev, whose life path has become a model of patriotism, fearlessness, and loyalty to high duty for modern Turkmen youth.

The contribution to achieving Victory of those who, sparing no effort, selflessly worked in the rear is invaluable. They heroically worked in production, provided the front with warm clothing, donated jewellery to the defence Fund, harvested wheat to the last grain and cotton to the last boll.

In the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, the feat of our valiant compatriots who brought the glorious Victory closer is highly revered. War and labour veterans make a worthy contribution to the development of the Motherland, educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and courage, and strengthening the unity and cohesion of our people. In this regard, the annual presentation of cash and valuable gifts to war veterans on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 has become a noble tradition.

Before the start of the celebration, participants were introduced to the exhibition, which featured materials from the Great Patriotic War, including the letters of the soldiers and more. The exhibition became a clear demonstration of the reverence with which the country treats the feat of the Turkmen people and the services of our courageous ancestors to the Fatherland.

The celebration opened with the song «Mert ogullar» and the theatrical literary and musical composition «Mert ýigitler gaýrat üçin dogulýar» performed by artists of the National music and drama theatre of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly, which glorified the courage of the defenders of the Motherland and expressed the high respect of the people for them.

Speakers at the ceremony noted that important and significant events in the country are accompanied by great celebrations, particularly emphasizing the significance of this date in the history of our people and the unparalleled courage of Turkmen jigits demonstrated during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.

As noted, the heroism of our brave ancestors is an exemplary school of noble service to the Motherland, the people and all of humanity. In our country, veterans who defended peace on Earth are treated with deep respect, and all conditions are created to improve their standard of living. In this regard, the participants of the celebration expressed their sincere gratitude to the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for the care and attention shown at the state level to representatives of the older generation, especially war veterans, and the veneration of their immortal feat.

During the ceremony, the floor was also given to war veterans, who shared their memories of those difficult years and expressed gratitude for the constant care from the state.

The artists enthusiastically celebrated the great courage and heroism of our compatriots demonstrated during the Great Patriotic War and the historical significance of the Great Victory. The musical compositions increased in the hearts of those gathered the feelings of boundless pride and respect for our glorious ancestors. The songs performed were also dedicated to the high achievements of the Fatherland, the cohesion of our society and the happy life of the Turkmen people.

Then, in a solemn ceremony to mark Victory Day, war veterans and the spouses of fallen soldiers were presented with cash and valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.

The event of this year demonstrated that our country places special importance on honouring the unparalleled heroism of those who fought in the Great Patriotic War and our grey-haired mothers who laboured in the home front, their noble work in educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and courage, strengthening the unity and cohesion of our people, and their contribution to the successful implementation of fundamental reforms in the Fatherland.
