Today, the VIII conference of judges of Turkmenistan was held with the participation of representatives of the Supreme court, the Arbitration court, and judges of velayat, city, and etrap courts. The agenda includes current tasks facing this structure.

As noted during the conference, Turkmenistan is achieving great success in all areas in the modern epoch thanks to the state policy implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. One of the main aspects of domestic policy is legal reform, aimed at improving the activities of government agencies. At the same time, great importance is attached to the modernisation of the judicial system and the active use of digital technologies in work, updating legislation in accordance with the requirements of the time and international standards.

Today, in our country, confidently following the path of progress and prosperity, social security is guaranteed, and favourable conditions are being created for a dignified life for every citizen. As is known, the key tasks of the judiciary are the administration of justice and the protection of the rights and freedoms of Turkmen citizens. In this regard, activities in this area are primarily focused on compliance with the law and justice, maintaining law and order, and eliminating the causes and conditions that give rise to offenses.

One of the main topics of discussion was the analysis of the implementation of the action Plan for the implementation of the Program for the development of the judicial system of Turkmenistan for 2022–2028, approved by the Resolution of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country. As noted, in order to successfully implement the work outlined in this document, the principles of legal proceedings are being improved, an appropriate level of openness and transparency of justice is being ensured, and the compliance of judicial decisions with the provisions of national legislation and generally recognised norms of international law is being ensured.

During the conference, the results of the «Model court» competition for the International Year of Peace and Trust were announced. Along with this, the issue of announcing the «Model court» reviews among the courts of Turkmenistan and the «Best judge» among judges of the courts of first instance was considered.

The agenda also included key aspects of improving the judicial system and legal proceedings. In this context, the importance of introducing amendments and additions to the relevant legal acts, taking into account modern realities, was emphasised.

In connection with the adoption of a new version of the Law of Turkmenistan «On the court» in 2025, special emphasis in the speeches was placed on the need to prepare special methodological manuals.

The conference participants considered the issue of improving the qualifications of judges and court staff, which was identified as one of the priority areas of activity for this body. As emphasised, guided by the relevant instructions of the President of Turkmenistan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, specific measures are being implemented aimed at ensuring the effective execution of the powers vested in judges. At the same time, the importance of introducing advanced practices, modern methods and organising special courses into this process was noted.

Other topics discussed included the implementation of the Work plan for 2026 and a new version of the Code of judicial ethics.

Following the conference, relevant decisions were made.
