These days, in our Fatherland, confidently following the path of progress and creation in the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the powerful state, in an atmosphere of widespread publicity and high civic engagement, one of the most important stages of the election campaign continues – the nomination of candidates for the elections scheduled for the 29th of March, 2026.

As is known, the upcoming socio-political event includes elections of members of the halk maslahaty in the newly formed etraps of the velayats, as well as to replace the deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan who have retired early, members of the velayat, etrap, city halk maslahaty and Gengeshes.

Holding these elections on the last Sunday of March in a year marked by the motto «Independent neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged horses» is intended to serve as further confirmation of the inviolability of the principles of genuine democracy.

According to national electoral legislation and the approved calendar plan, the nomination of candidates is carried out on an equal basis by the political parties of the country - the Democratic party, the Party of industrialists and entrepreneurs, the Agrarian party, as well as by groups of citizens.

It should be noted that citizens of Turkmenistan who have reached the age of 25 by the election day and have permanently resided in the country for the previous ten years may be nominated as candidates for deputies of the Mejlis, and citizens who have reached the age of 21 by the election day and resided in the relevant territory may be nominated as members of local halk maslahaty and Gengeshes.

During the nominating meetings, the most worthy compatriots are proposed as candidates, who have proved their loyalty to the Motherland and enjoy authority in labour collectives. The speakers note the professionalism, organisational abilities and high spiritual and moral qualities of the candidates, emphasising their willingness to devote all their strength and knowledge to the implementation of large-scale government programs.

Special attention is paid to the observance of the principle of alternativeness. The nomination of several candidates for one electoral mandate is an indisputable evidence that the electoral process in Turkmenistan is based on strict observance of the Constitution and generally recognised international human rights standards.

In this way, the upcoming elections will be another step in the context of the transformative policy of a new historical era, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, and consistently implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and evidence of the triumph of democratic traditions.
