Today, a meeting of the Turkmen-Austrian friendship group was held at the «Yyldyz» hotel, where the results of the work completed this year were summarised.

The meeting, held in a hybrid format, was attended by members of the Society from both the Turkmen and Austrian sides.

Opening the meeting, the head of the Turkmen-Austrian friendship group, Ms. N. Berger, emphasised the importance of the recent meeting with the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Noting that the establishment of the friendship group in 2008 was directly linked to the first official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Austria, N. Berger placed particular emphasis on significant joint projects implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan in the fields of culture, information exchange, and examples of fruitful cooperation over the past years.

Turkmen speakers expressed satisfaction with the high level of Turkmen-Austrian relations, built on principles of mutual trust and respect for interests of each other. Both countries, it was noted, are demonstrating a commitment to fully exploiting their considerable existing potential to implement joint projects.

During the meeting, a number of key issues aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding the activities of the friendship Group were considered and discussed.

Speaking via digital link, participants highlighted the enormous potential of new initiatives and ongoing projects, while discussing strengthening business ties.

The main issues focused on the development of mutually beneficial economic partnerships and the further strengthening of bilateral relations, including through cultural diplomacy.

The meeting discussed other promising projects for 2026, and considered suggestions and proposals aimed at enhancing the activities of the friendship Group and engaging leading Turkmen companies in joint work.

In honour of the 30^th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan and the 17^th anniversary of the Turkmen-Austrian friendship Group, several members of the friendship Group were recognised for their significant contributions to the development of economic and business projects between the two countries, as well as for their many years of fruitful work.

In this way, the year 2025 allowed the Turkmen-Austrian friendship Group to make the most of its platform to achieve not only bilateral goals, but also the important global agenda of the International year of peace and trust.
