In honor of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan obtaining the status of permanent neutrality, the Central Bank of the country is introducing into circulation modified polymer banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, and 10 manats, as well as a new polymer banknote with a denomination of 200 manats from December 1 of the current year, held under the motto “The International Year of Peace and Trust”.

According to the press release of the country’s main bank, the main distinguishing characteristics of the banknotes are their low likelihood of being counterfeited and their high resistance to external factors such as contamination, wear, damage, and so on. In addition, their security features have been enhanced and the visual indicators of authenticity improved.

The color and design of the 1, 5, and 10-manat banknotes have been generally preserved, and they feature the emblem of the International Year of Peace and Trust. The obverse of the 200-manat banknote depicts the Arkadag Monument, while the reverse shows the administrative building of the city of Arkadag city hyakimlik. The obverse of the modified manats being introduced into circulation, as well as that of the new banknote, bears the year of issue and the facsimile signature of the Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.

These banknotes must be accepted at face value throughout the territory of our country by all enterprises, organizations, and institutions, regardless of their form of ownership or field of activity, for carrying out all types of payments. All Central Bank banknotes of the 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2020 series will continue to remain legal tender within Turkmenistan.

To reliably verify the authenticity of banknotes and coins in circulation within our country, it is necessary to check at least five security features. Information about these features can be found on the official website of the Central Bank at: http://www.cbt.tm.
