On August 10, 2025, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Having warmly greeted each other, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and President Ilham Aliyev noted with satisfaction the current high level of relations between the two countries.

In this regard, the head of the friendly country stated that he recalls with warm feelings the recent visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to the Republic of Azerbaijan, which became an important event in the history of bilateral relations.

During the conversation, the importance of the agreements reached and documents signed during the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the United States of America was emphasized. The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan congratulated the President and the people of the friendly country on achieving these historic agreements.

President Ilham Aliyev sincerely congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the head of state on the successful completion of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in Avaza and expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to the Azerbaijani delegation. Taking the opportunity, the head of the friendly state conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, thanking for the kind words, said that this International Forum is an important step in strengthening cooperation between landlocked countries, noting that the Azerbaijani delegation participated in this Conference at a high level.

During the conversation, the importance of the trilateral meeting between Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, held in Avaza at the initiative of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, was emphasized. In this regard, the interlocutors noted the existence of great opportunities for further expansion of cooperation between the three countries in a wide range of areas, in particular, in the development of transport and communication corridors.

It was also noted that, at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, a meeting of the heads of state of the Central Asian countries was held at the Avaza Congress Center, where issues related to the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Central Asian countries, which will be held in Tashkent in the fall, were discussed. During the meeting, the initiative of Hero Arkadag on Azerbaijan's accession to this cooperation format was voiced.

During the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on priority areas of bilateral relations.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, taking advantage of the opportunity, invited President Ilham Aliyev to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev wished each other good health and success in state affairs.
