On August 5, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
Having warmly greeted the leader of the friendly country, the head of state thanked him for accepting the invitation to a major event held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, and, taking the opportunity, congratulated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on being awarded the Order of Turkmenistan “Hyzmatdaşlygy ösdürmäge goşandy üçin”.
Thanking for the kind words, the head of Uzbekistan emphasized that he accepts this high award as a symbol of the inviolability of friendly Uzbek-Turkmen relations. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also noted that Turkmenistan, by holding this international Conference, is building a bridge of friendship and strengthening cooperation between different cultures and regions.
During the meeting, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss the current state and key issues of interstate dialogue.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan views mutually beneficial relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan – its close neighbor and reliable partner – as a priority vector of its foreign policy.
As noted, cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan covers a wide range of areas. The presence of enormous untapped potential, the implementation of which will contribute to the further strengthening of mutually beneficial partnership, was also emphasized. Particular attention was paid to the importance of deepening bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties.
The interlocutors emphasized that Turkmen-Uzbek relations, currently distinguished by a high level of trust and mutual support, are developing dynamically in various areas, including agriculture, electric power, the oil and gas complex, the chemical industry and other sectors.
Great importance is attached to interaction in solving important issues related to the creation of transport and energy corridors, strengthening interregional ties and ensuring sustainable development in the region. In this context, the conviction was expressed that the International Conference held in Avaza will be an effective step towards increasing fruitful cooperation between developing countries that do not have access to the sea.
At the end of the meeting, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, expressing confidence in the further strengthening and expansion of traditionally friendly Turkmen-Uzbek relations, wished each other good health and success in government activities, and the fraternal peoples of both countries – well-being and prosperity.
