On May 20, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the head of the International Weightlifting Federation Mohammed Jalud, who was visiting Turkmenistan.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the guest emphasized that it was a great honor for him to visit Turkmenistan, which is achieving great success in the field of sports. The IWF President noted that he recalls with particular warmth his previous visits to Ashgabat in 2017 to participate in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, and in 2018 – in the World Weightlifting Championships.

Having warmly welcomed the head of a major sports organization to the ancient and hospitable Turkmen land, the head of state expressed confidence that this visit would provide an opportunity to discuss important areas and prospects for the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Weightlifting Federation.

As was noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to the development of physical education and sports. Large-scale work is being carried out in Turkmenistan to promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle, to attract young people to physical education and various sports. The state is taking measures to expand international cooperation in this area.

Having emphasized that the modern sports infrastructure created in Turkmenistan allows holding world-class competitions and training high-class athletes, the head of the International Weightlifting Federation expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan for the attention paid to the development of sports.

Noting that today's meeting was an important step towards taking sports cooperation to a new level and contributes to the activities of the International Weightlifting Federation, which promotes the development of sports and the advancement of Olympic values throughout the world, the head of state expressed confidence that the guest's current visit would contribute to the further expansion of the established productive partnership, the implementation of joint projects and the advancement of new initiatives in the field of sports.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed sincere gratitude to the head of the IWF Mohammed Jalud for his great personal contribution to the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Weightlifting Federation and support for Turkmenistan's initiatives and wished him success in his work.
